Refreshing Parent Window from Child

I want to refresh child window without closing child window when form is submitted in child window...I tried the following but it closes child window and control goes on parent window..
if(!window.opener.location)
window.opener.location = self;
window.opener.location.reload();

You refreshing from the parent or the pop up window?

refreshing the parent is just:

window.opener.window.location.reload();

But refreshing the parent from the child is going to sever the parent/child relationship.
