in my jsp file called "a.jsp" i have a list of checkboxes which have values of start time (start time is a variable that stores the starting time of an event from my database).
Depending on some condition some checkboxes are pre-checked and some are not when the page is loaded the first time.
Each pre-checked box has a "cancel" button at its side
When i click on the "cancel" button to uncheck the pre-checked box , I want the Jsp page "a.jsp" to refresh unchecking the 'cancelled' box .
How to do this ?

Sounds like something you will need Javascript for. Not need to refresh the page -- you can affect the state of the controls completely on the client side.

Moved to the HTML/Javascript forum.
