How would you submit a request to any other resource? Fromt he point of view of HTML and Javascript, they're all just links.

I am calling a servlet like below using javascript
var sHelpPage = webPath+"servlets/IncidCatServlet";
window.open(sHelpPage, "_help");

It calls that particular servlet and opens the next window, but it remains open the last window also. I want the last window to be closed whenever the it calls the second window, how can I acheive this.

thanks

You can not close the window if JavaScript did not open it.

so use
window.location.href="yourlink";
and you will not have to worry about pop up windows.
