In my javascript function I am using getElemenyById() function to extract the value of the text box. This function is working fine and returns an object in Internet Explorer but null when I tried the same in Mozilla FireFox. Could any one please tell me why is that happening and to fix that. Is there any alternative to the function I am using. Thanks in advance.

Do you have an id on the textbox?
