I'm sure I'm not the first, and you probably get bothered with this frequently, but how about another ranking? I was a greenhorn for 30 posts and since I've been a ranch hand for roughly 370 posts. I've got nothing to aspire to. So I suggest there should be a new ranking, something new on the totem pole. Something to satisfy the little people. I know I'm whining, but I imagine after another 400 posts, I could still be a ranch hand. That's a grim future.

The limitations of UBB do not allow additional levels. Sorry!

But you do get a public announcement from one of us point-watchers when you reach 1000 posts, so not everything goes unrecognized.

I understand your feeling Sean. There are n no. of "ranch handers" who are there.I think they are also posting and getting their count increasing. I do not know the criteria but the quality of posting also is one factor. One good point of this system is that it develops competition among ranch handers.
everybody has hope that one day or the other he will receive invitation from moderators. with this hope they keep posting.they have "personal gain intention".But by doing this they unknowingly help many others who visit this site to seek help.
I hope one you wil receive invitation.but please continue participating.you might help many others in doing that.

If you start adding more levels then you'll run into the problem that people will start to complain that they posted 500 times and most were helping others or contributing to the knowledge flow, while others spent most of their time in meaningless drivel and didn't contribute much to other forums. They'll say it isn't fait that they have the same title as each toehr and they'll want some other recognition for contributing meaningful posts. I don't know if the ubb lets you do anything like filtering out certain forums or not - thats just the first issue that jumped to mind when I read Sean's idea.
I guess too that a lot of people in meaningless drivel use two names - one for MD and another for all the other posts.
But, for what it's worth, I agree with Sean it would be nice to aspire to something else beyond ranch hand, realizing that not everyone can be a bartender.

I guess I am not really clear as to what happens after you become a ranch hand. You keep on posting, that's fine, but then how does one get to be a bartender or something like that?

click on the icon with the face to see your profile including number of posts. You become a ranch hand when you reach 31 posts. Any post counts, including replies.

By invitation. When we look for new bartenders, we look for someone knowledgable that has been helpful in the forums. Current bartenders/sheriffs nominate new bartenders.

A Bartender is a forum moderator. They get to edit, delete, and move posts. They are expected to maintain a professional forum.
A Sheriff is a moderator of every forum.
