Summary

As a Lead Middleware Engineer, you will provide hands-on technical instrumentation, implementation, and administration of the middleware platform including BEA Weblogic, IBM MQ, Oracle application server, Documentum, and SharePoint/.NET and provide leadership in working closely with the support/administration teams and the application architecture/development teams. You will report to the middleware technologies team leader within Application Engineering.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Hands-on implementation of standards, processes, and procedures related to middleware infrastructure setup, administration, security, clustering/high availibility, upgrade management, capacity planning, application deployment, failover, and disaster recovery
  • Lead efforts to work with application development teams on middleware technology/resource needs and dependencies and provide leadership to manage client expectations and project deliverables
  • Technical planning and implementation of tools/solutions to improve the middleware architecture in terms of performance, resiliency, availability, scalability, and globalization needs
  • Collaborate with teams for evolving application infrastructure architecture, provide technology/thought leadership around hands-on

  • analysis and resolution of issues and work with the primary middleware support team to improve our operational efficiency and
    streamline our 24/7 support capabilities

  • Strong delivery focus, multi-tasking capabilities, and ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment, with well-balanced technical and client-expectation management skills
  • Exceptional project leadership skills


  • Required Background/Experience
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience as a Systems Engineer


  • At least eight of those years must have been in the capacity of a middleware administrator/systems engineer with a very strong

  • background in BEA Weblogic platform (version 9.0 preferred), IBM websphere MQ and MQ business integration message broker (MQSI)
    (version 6.0 preferred), Netscape Web Servers, IIS, UNIX fundamentals, clustering, High Availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR)
  • Very well versed in shell scripting and programming skills to automate administration and management of Middleware Infrastructure


  • Major Pluses to have
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field highly preferred
  • Experience with administering EMC Documentum, Sharepoint, .NET Server, and Oracle Application Server. Ideally, Documentum will be the stronger skill
  • Financial services domain experience
