Minimizing or plain not showing a window

I'm trying to have a window open for about 1 second (approx. processing time) and I need to have it not even flash on the screen. Is there a way to hide it immediately beneath the parent or minimize it? I checked out alwaysLowered and using the blur method and none seem to accomplish this. Thanks in advance.

why use a window at all?

Use a hidden iframe or get fancier with an XMLHttpRequest.
