client-side scripting?

Hi,

Let's say I have a HTML page with some javascript inside body tag.
When I request the html page, the server will return me the html page and the script will be executed in the client side, right?

I understand this concept when we are accessing the page using web browser. What happen when a looping program accessing this html page? Would the script be executed also?

Thanks. Maybe I'm just a little bit confused about the client-side scripting concept.

Can you explain what a "looping program" is? I have never heard the term.

Sorry about that.

Basically what I'm trying to ask is the condition when a program access a certain HTML page.

What I meant by a looping program is a program that loops let's say once every six hours to access a URL.

Hello,

Just for information, I ask this question since I want to do the following:

1. I'm going to provide my clients with an html page to access our data.
It will be something like "http://....com/index.html?username=..&pwd=.."
My clients then will access this URL using a program.
2. In this page there is javascript that will hashed the password (using hashed algorithm) before it redirects to a JSP page.

I'm just wondering whether the javascript will be executed or not in my clients' program before the information is sent to the web server. Based on my understanding, it will be executed if I access the URL using a web browser.

Thank you

If your clients "program" has a Javascript Engine that will process the Javascript, sure.
