As the processing of AJAX takes place behind the scene how can a user get to know about its processing.
How can this be achieved in a proper way?

Say , I am doing form validation .As soon as the user tabs out of a field and gets into the next one.A AJAX request is sent to the server with the value of the previous field for validation and this process continues. So when the client is waiting for the response from the server , how can this be intimated to the client.

show a layer(div) with a loading/working message. Add a bit of wow with an indicator: http://www.ajaxload.info/

The readyState property holds the status of the server's response.

readyState is the member XMLHttpRequest Object.
there you can check some possible values for readyState property.

Yes , this sounds great , even I can use the build in functionality provided by prototype for this.

Thanks to all.
