I already have servlet applications (Java + HTML + CSS + JavaScript). Is it possible to add GWT components to these applications so that we can use AJAX to make these applications better?

Or maybe I should ask question this way:
To use GWT do I have to build applications from scratch?

You should be able to integrate GWT into your servlet based web applications.
