Back button issues with AJAX

What's the best way to deal with the loss of browser Back button functionality that is sometimes lost with AJAX?

I like how sites like Google offer the ability to "link to this page" since the URL does not change with smaller updates to the page. But I still sometimes have issues where the back button does not return me to the previous state.

Our upcoming book has examples using the Really Simple History framework. RSH uses the '#' fragment ID to store history.

So yes, RSH is a good library to use for this.
