I have in mind a JSP with an input box. A user can scan a barcode to populate the box. Once the box is populated I need this data to feed into in select list on the form. How do I get the input box to fire an event once data is inserted into it with out any other user interaction?

What about using 'onKeyup' handler for your text box and have it compare the length of the input box value and the expected barcode text length. When the desired length reached, use your handler to submit/move to the next input box.
