This discussion is perfect. I just went live with my first website I developed for a friend starting a photography business. I spent a lot of time reading books and researching. My client initially wanted to clone another site that was built mostly in Flash from a template that was probably bought. I created a site from the ground up using HTML and CSS and only used Flash in one area.
My question is this: How do you approach developing a site with so many technologies available and what are some ways to better convince clients not get caught up in the hype of cool animations? I want people to be able to marvel at the elegant use of HTML and CSS to achieve outstanding web pages.
