Software Engineer, Shockwave.com Location: San Francisco Shockwave, a part of MTV Networks, is looking for a creative, sharp-minded individual to join our energetic and fast-moving Engineering team. If you have a penchant for quality and a desire to innovate for a scalable, high-capacity environment, please apply. Requirements: * Solid computer science background, knowledge of object-oriented methodologies * 3 or more years of work in a production environment * Working knowledge of Java and common design patterns * Experience with J2EE MVC Frameworks like Spring * Familiarity with technologies like JSP, JSTL and Taglibs * An understanding of all things AJAX - JavaScript, CSS, DOM, and HTML * Be highly responsible with solid written and verbal communication skills * Work efficiently and independently yet be friendly and play well with others Pluses: * Working knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Perl * Experience with Subversion * Comfortable working in Linux and Solaris environments * Experience with SQL, JDBC and relational database architecture * Skilled at writing thread-safe code * Solid understanding of Java 1.5 features like Collections, Generics, et cetera * Have read the JVM Specification and can talk about it * Experience implementing with Open Source products * Experience with Flash and ActionScript Shockwave.com is a high-traffic, world class destination for casual games on the internet.
