i have two checkbox groups -

one is group1 with values - assessment, certification, mrl, supporting assessment.

second is group2 with values - assessor, certifier, erm, ferm, supporting assessor.

my condition is if supporting assessment is checked from the first group and supporting assessor is not checked from the second group, throw an alert message to the user.

how can i do this using javascript?

If only one choice is possible in the 2nd group, why not just go ahead and set it as checked in code rather than making the user guess?
