Simultaneous Ajax Calls with jQuery?

Is it possible to make simultaneous AJAX calls with jQuery? I have two jqGrids on one page. They both load via an AJAX call to the server. I saw an example on how to do this but it wasn't using jQuery.

Just want to know if this is possible. If yes, then how, of no then is it in the works?

jQuery itself uses no global variables to record state, so there is no limit, other than the practical, on the number of simultaneous requests imposed by the library. The browser may have something to say about it though.

Whether jqGrid allows multiple instances or not is a question for the plugin author*.

* Though I'd be surprised if it did not -- that's just not the "jQuery way". In jQuery in Action, the Photo-o-matic plugin example only allows a single instance per page in order to keep the example simple and focused on the subject at hand, but the book does describe how to lift that restriction with just a little extra effort.
