unordered list with hyphen

I was trying to create a unordered list with hyphen.like
- number 1 task
- number 2 task

and I tried with

could anyone help me on this?

"hyphen" does not seem to be a valid list-style-type value.

What you could try is using a pseudo element.

you can try this too..
here even if the text is wrapped the text will be indented in the wrapped lines to look like a list..

oh i'm sorry. as a newcomer i don't know many of the conventions here.
i got to this page through a search in the google with the same question. after finding the solution i thought posting the solution here will help someone like me who reaches here through a search.
