Documenting Open Source Library (JQuery)

I'm learning JQuery and as I learn, I notice one of the powerful features of it are the plugins created by so many independent parties.

From developer point of view, is there any standard practice of how to organize information about all these plugins?
I mean: For example, each plugin has their own information, tutorial, etc. --> How to organize this? I'm just curious if there's already an established standard practice to manage information when you use multiple open source projects/ libraries.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Are you asking from the point of view of the library creator, or as the user of such a library?
