The link above shows the AJAX description and really a good page for AJAX.
But to be precise about the question kept my Dhaansumaal, I think these are the callback methods in AJAX:

processRequest
req.open(-,-,-);
req.send(-);

No, those are some of the methods of XHR. They are not callback methods.

Callback methods don't have specific names. They can be named whatever you want, or they can even be anonymous.

The only callback the XHR defines is whatever function's reference is stored in its
onreadystatechange property.

For example, you could define a fuction named fred and use it as the callback:

or (more commonly) you can use an anonymous function:
