GET request length limitation

Is GET request has length limitation?

I'm providing a HTTP url for our clients but they will eventually access the URL using automatic programs (so the GET request will not be sent via browser).

I read about this maximum URL in I.E.:;en-us;q208427

But I'm not sure whether it's going to be the same everywhere for every browser and if someone access it using automatic program.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

I don't think this is standardized, so you should be conservative in what you assume to be possible. Why not use POST instead?

I found this article:

I refer this article to my boss. It makes sense for me and him. Lucky me....

This is a pretty good reference:

In short, anything over ~2000 characters *may* be a problem and you shouldn't count on it working.
