Can anyone recommend a good book from above or elsewhere for an introduction to XML? Any good web site tutorials would also be good. Thanks.

You can start " Begining XML " From Wrox Press. Definitely that book will help you as beginner.
Then , you can for " Professional XML " also from Wrox Press.
Another Good book is " XML bible " from Elliotte Rusty Harold.
There are books on " Java & XML app. development"
