what is XML schema & how it is different from XSL?

XML Schema is a way of describing the document structure. It is a more advanced and flexible alternative to DTD. It is evolving as an industry standard and soon might replace the DTD, which now rules the world.
There are a number of useful resources about XML Schema. Go to W3 XML Schema page and look under "Tutorials" section.
