You can download the API's from Sun site.
and another API JDOM API is available from www.jdom.org

I suggest using Xerces from the Apache Group (http://xml.apache.org) it is the best that I have come across.

Xerces is used by jdom too. It is light weight, easy to use, and powerful. All power of the dom and sax are all there, and it is fast!!!
