XML for modeling RAID devices

I am to design a monitoring and configuration software for SCSI RAID devices. The design should be flexible enough so that it will be easy to plug in support for newer or older devices that have different configuration and status information. Does this look like a candidate for XML-based approach?
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
