"vinod k",
The Java Ranch has thousands of visitors every week, many with surprisingly similar names. To avoid confusion we have a naming convention, described at http://www.javaranch.com/name.jsp . We require names to have at least two words, separated by a space, and strongly recommend that you use your full real name. Please log in with a new name which meets the requirements.
You have already been warned about the user name you have chosen. This name will soon be turned off, so please choose another name immediately.
Thanks.

here are standards I am aware of (except they are not specific to XML)
data: ISO 8601 format http://www.iso.ch/markete/8601.pdf
currency: ISO 4217 format
language code: ISO 629 http://www.unicode.org/unicode/onlinedat/languages.html
country code: ISO 3166 http://www.unicode.org/unicode/onlinedat/countries.html
or http://www.din.de/gremien/nas/nabd/iso3166ma/codlstp1/
Language-independent datatypes ISO/IEC 11404 http://pueblo.lbl.gov/~olken/mendel/w3c/iso11404.html

Uncontrolled vocabularies
