IDREF use in DOM

I am trying to utilize IDREFs from within the DOM. I know that this is possible when using XSLT and performing a transform. MSXML parser provides a convenience method on their XMLDOMDocument object that returns the node indicated by an IDREF. Within code it is then possible to read the IDREF attribute value and quickly obtain the referenced node.
Is this type of behavior possible with any Java parser? I am currently using JAXP (which allows the use of compliant parser) but I have also been working with Xerces.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
