I like XMLSpy. It can validate the document against DTD/Schema if present as you edit it, really Since XML is plain text data, if you don't need such features you can use any standard editor as an XML editor. Many of today's popular Java IDEs also has XML support such as syntax highlighting, expanding/collapsing nodes, validating well-formedness etc.
