Question on Entity References

From the following entitie what kinds of entity references are allowed as attribute values?
- General Entity References
- External Parsed Entity References
- External UnParsed Entity References
- Parameter Entities
Since Parameter Entities are for DTD's only, they can be ruled out. I do not think unparsed entity references are allowed. General Entity References and External Parsed Entity References are allowed???
Any thoughts, suggestions or corrections?
