Is voiceXML simply designing an XML document that will be "read" to the reader?
If not, what is it? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick

Not exactly. VoiceXML is an XML-based language that you use to develop dialog applications, which can be either traditional IVR (Interactive Voice Response) application (such as those 1800 credit card balance checking service) or new speech-recognition-based voice applications such as using natural language to request for stock quotes. Most of the current VoiceXML applications are phone-oriented, meaning you can use any phone to interact with a VoiceXML-based application to request for information or other services. But VoiceXML can also be used in desktop environments to assist people with special needs.

There are different sites that contains VoiceXML information. Tellme, BeVocal, IBM all provides information on VoiceXML. I can add links for the sites later.
