I know that in DOM, every node/element has an ID within a document, but I cannot find anywhere in Java's DOM API where I can retrieve this. Does anyone know how I can know the ID of an XML node?

I think this question would be best answered in the XML and Related Tehnologies forum, so I'm moving it there.

As Jim suggested, moving this to the XML forum.
