Validating against a schema using the DocumentBuilderFactory

If I setValidating( true ), is there a way to have this validate against a schema instead of requiring a DTD defined in a DOCTYPE header? Or should we be using a DOMParser instead and set the features? I have a feeling the latter is the way to go.
