Change size of SVGs in PDF (xsl:fo)

Hi!
I am successfully integrating images in PDF with Cocoon, the image sources are described in my XML source files.
Scaling JPGs is no problem. Moreover they are automatically resized in the PDF output if they are bigger than the page size.
Unfortunately that doesnt happen with SVGs. They are not automatically resized (if they are too big only some parts are displayed) and I cannot resize them with the parameters "width" and "height" in the "external-graphic"-tag.
On the page http://xml.apache.org/fop/graphics.html the problem/solution is not mentioned.
Maybe someone has experiences with this problem or any idea how to solve it, that would be really great (SVGs look so much better in PDF than JPGs)
Greetings from Vienna,
Robert.
