Everyone knows that XML encoding causes latency. But wheneven XML encoding is talked about, encoding of Double precision floating point numbers comes up. Why? Why is it difficult to encode double prec. floating pt. numbers? An example of a double prec. floating pt. number? Considering a client-server architecture using XML, does the performance degrade if a client or server send floating pt. numbers to each other? Any thoughts about this are appreciated. Thanks, Kiran
