Migrating Older Code to JAXP 1.2

Hi all -
I am working on getting our JDK 1.3-based web application upgraded to JDK 1.4.2 and have run into a bit of trouble with our old Xalan calls.
Here's the code (snipped for brevity):

What are the replacements for StylesheetRoot, XSLTInputSource, setStylesheetParam, et. al? Do I have to completely re-write this using TransformerFactory? If so, do you have any suggestions on the best way to go about it?
I have scoured the web trying to get this to work (or to find any information on what to do with these evidently obsolete classes) and have come up empty handed. This code works like a champ under JDK 1.3 and Tomcat 3.x.
Thanks for any insights!
