This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
The book predates StAX by several months at least. Therefore it does not specifically address it. Some of the general comments about SAX also apply to StAX, especially those concerened with streaming. The existing StAX parsers are very low quality compared to the existing SAX parsers like Xerces-J. This isn't so much a comment on the API as it is on the relative maturity level of the parsers. SAX parsers have had 5+ years to work the bugs out. The two released StAX parsers I know of are still essentially early access implementations. I'll be talking more about StAX at Software Development 2004 West next month. Notes from that talk will be on Cafe con Leche soon after.
