have node object, need to view it's xml?

i have a node from the result of an xpath expression. i want to see the entire node string. for example. the node is xml is:

and for an xpath expression of /data/foo, i get back a node list. i want to see:

how can i display this from the result? i'm using jaxen for the xpath expression evaluator, and getting a w3c node back. i can certain convert to another node type if it's easier.
