rss and atom

I don't know much about Atom. I am under the impression that both RSS and Atom are XML formats for feeds. First of all, is this correct?

How are the differences addressed in "RSS and Atom in Action"? Are there separate chapters or are they presented in parallel?

I cover RSS and Atom in parallel. Chapter 4 introduces the formats and their XML elements, Chapter 5 explains techniques for parsing them and Chapter 6 shows how to generate and serve them efficiently on the web.
