I don't want to reinvent the wheel here, so is there any way you know of, how I can reliably tell whether an XML whose Document is passed to a method as a parameter is a, say, RSS, Atom, RDF or whatever kind of type?

Obviously, such a method could be quickly implemented in a hacky kind of way. But since I am not really that familiar with all the specs, I thought I'd rather use something reliable if it exists.

best regards,
Fred

Not neccessarily. A lot of feeds out there omit version numbers and namespace declarations. Especially with rdf this is an issue.

Then you're stuck with the hacks.
