Normally, this is the fun part reserved for the person who did all of the work in putting the giveaway together: Carl Trusiak. Carl called me a little bit ago and said that he got a bit tied up - could I pick four winners, announce them, and he'll take care of all the rest. So I get the fun part and Carl gets all the hard work. I said "Sure!" Since I don't happen to have Carl's spiffy program to pick the winners, I decided to grab the first thread and pick the first four qualified messages out of that. The thread was '"Agile" is cheating' and the winners are:
Junilu Lacar Joe Gilvary Doug Wang John Wetherbie
Congratulations!

Conratulations to the winners. But Paul
... I decided to grab the first thread and pick the first four qualified messages out of that.
It's true. That is not perfectly random. But before Carl handled this, and before Bill Compton made the program that picks the winners, I did this by hand. It would take hours to pick the winner. Since I chose this technique before getting here, and I didn't notify anybody ahead of time that this would be the way the choosing would be done this one time, I do feel it is sufficiently random. Next week everything will be back to normal.

The Trailboss has spoken. But really, since I have volunteered to review this book for the Bunkhouse, this means that I've got two copies coming to me now . Would it make everybody feel (a little) better if I try to arrange something with Carl to do a single drawing for my extra copy? That sounds like a plan. Carl should be able to get to this in a day or two.

Hey! How did someone who's name starts with "D" sneak in!?! Thanks to all who participated and a big thanks to JavaRanch and Alistair Cockburn. There were some very good discussions going on. Don't let the fact that the giveaway is over stop them! John

Congratulations to the Winners A huge thank you to Alistar for his time and some great discussions. Thanks to the people at Addison Wesley for the books Thank you Paul for stepping in on short notice and handling the selection of the winners. A family emergency pulled me away. But, yes everything is fine now.

Congratulations to all winners.. 2 copies for review ? why 2? isn't one enough? Looking forward for your review. Actually I am shopping for a good book on the subject. And I do take javaranch reviews very seriously! I have bought 5 books cuz of javaranch reviews so far.

We always use two just in case they try to trick us with a phony one.
