I am looking for some white papers targeted for an experienced java programmer who's background is mostly implementation but is looking to grow into a more architectural role. Something that describes the use of a design process for evaluating and chosing technologies up through validating design choices ( i.e. prototyping). Any good links would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

These are just some sites I go to for articles on design:
http://www.objectmentor.com/
http://www.thoughtworks.com/
http://www.martinfowler.com/
http://www.allenholub.com/
You might try to Google for Java design patterns and see what you come up with. Sun also has their J2EE Blueprints project which lists several design patterns. You could also look for links in the Architect Certification forum.

Wilfried,
I see we read pretty much the same things
Nice page. A little (well, actually it's displayed in a pretty big font) typo there: it's "Design" not "Desgin"
