What does Velocity and an Ideal Day means in XP terms. Can you please give an example. BTW Is Ideal day = 8 hours?

An Ideal Day is a day of ideal flowing development without any disruptions. It's a more or less subjective unit for estimating effort. Many teams substitute it by even more arbitrary units like just Points or even "Gummy Bears" Velocity is the measurement of how much effort you worked on in a fixed period. For example the team might have developed Stories worth 11 Story Points in the last iteration - its Velocity is 11. This value is used to predict how fast future development will be, so the team plans to work on Stories worth 11 Points for the next iteration (iterations have fixed length in XP).
