Just curious to know if anyone: [1] Has a good book recommendation for RUP? [2] Has a good book recommendation for introduction to other methodologies? As always, google has some good links to online documentation, and pointed me to a good site for an introduction: http://www.geocities.com/itmweb/ Any others out there? Cheers, Neil

"Agile Software Development" by Alistair Cockburn is a good introduction to, well, agile software development, and the role of methodologies in software development in general. Regarding books on specific methodologies, it depends on what information you are interested in. For example their is literature about XP from a bunch of perspectives: "Questioning Extreme Programming" is mainly showing how and why it differs from conventional methodologies and tries to answer the question, when it might pay back to introduce XP and when it might be a bad choice. It doesn't tell you the "how". "Extreme Programming Installed" shortly, but more or less completely introduces all the practices of XP. It is mainly about how to do it when you decided to do it. "Planning Extreme Programming" is concentrating on the planning aspect of XP and therefore especially interesting to customers and managers who don't care about the coding practices of the developers (and of course to developers who want to know more about planning). "Extreme Programming in Practice" is a case study of a small XP project - here you see the small details of how the practices work out, what can go wrong, how it got fixed on that project, etc. So, what are you interested in?

Day by day, what you do is who you become. Your integrity is your destiny - it is the light that guides your way. - Heraclitus
