DBA resistance to agility

Scott,
One of things I've encountered often is the DBA who believes that all database changes should start with them and that application needs shouldn't necessarily drive database design. What's been your experience with DBAs and their resistance to "agility?" Is any of this discussed in the book?
Also, does the book discuss how to deal with multiple projects and their interaction with an enterprise-wide database?
The book's on my must-buy list at this point based on what I've seen. Best of luck with it.
