The recommended iteration length nowadays is 1 to two weeks; it is not recommended to release less often than every half a year, preferably much more often.
The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts. Think only on those things that are in line with your principles and can bear the light of day. The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you do is who you become. Your integrity is your destiny - it is the light that guides your way. - Heraclitus
Has anybody run into trouble with too few iterations per release? I hear some smooth running teams release every iteration, or at least very frequently. We weren't so smooth, and I sometimes felt there were not enough iterations to adjust for discovery, observe velocity in a new area, respond to user feedback, etc. Does that ring true for anyone?
A good question is never answered. It is not a bolt to be tightened into place but a seed to be planted and to bear more seed toward the hope of greening the landscape of the idea. John Ciardi

What exactly did you experience that made your iterations feel "not smooth"? That is, what problems did you encounter?
