Hi, I'd like to know if the agile methods can coexist together RUP ones, or are they completely different concepts? Thank you.

Many people that enjoy RUP say that you can make RUP as agile as you want. Scott Ambler describes on his website a modified version of RUP called AUP (or Agile Unified Process). It is meant to describe a process in which you can use agile practices, but remain true to RUP. http://www.ambysoft.com/unifiedprocess/agileUP.html

http://www.objectmentor.com/resources/articles/RUPvsXP.pdf is another interesting article on the topic. It basically comes to the conclusion that Extreme Programming is a valid RUP instance.
