I've got a problem with my start menu. After clicking the 'All Programs' link, it is showing me not only the contents of the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs folder, it's also showing me all folders in C:\Program Files !

Anyone run across this before? I've tried googling for this and haven't had any luck.

And yah, it's not *quite* as simple as all that. I also installed the Windows XP Power Toys (the one from Microsoft) and used it to change my "Program Files" special folder to E:\Programs.

Setting it to E:\Programs makes it show all the shortcuts from the expected path, and all the folders under E:\Programs. So same behaviour as when I set it back to being C:\Program Files

Can't fix it by uninstalling power toys. No system restore point either.

Any ideas ?

Try rolling the system back to a day or 2 before this happened. That should work. The rollback is (strangly enough) in the HELP area under your Start menu

I was doing this all within a 6 hour period (clean install for a friend, plus "windows update and restart a dozen times")

There was no restore point available that would get me back to a working system (i tried restoring to the first available one)

Since it was only 6 hours of work, I just re-did everything and just didn't move my "Program Files" folder.

Lesson learned.
