I recently updgraded my old machine from Windows ME to WinXP. I screwed it up by doing so. Winodws XP only works in Safe Mode because of hardware incompatibilities I suppose. Is there a way to downgrade to Win ME without formatting? I can't format because I've got lots of stuff on the drive.

You probably need to post this in the General Computing forum. When you upgraded, did you choose an NTFS file system for XP? If you did then there is no way to go back. If you didn't, there is probably no way to go back. Bummer, huh? My suggestion would be to backup everything you have and start from scratch. I don't know that you will have many other options.
