Hi !
I am having problems with browsing, ftp-ing etc. My ISP support told me that may be my computer has some virus that blocks internet traffic.
My computer is connected to the internet almost 24 hours a day.
1- If my computer is infected with a virus that blocks internet traffic, how do I get rid of it. My ISP support was telling me that there is some special antivirus for this. BTW, I have latest version of McAffe Anti virus on my system and it does not detect any virus.
2- Will installing a firewall prevent this from happening in the future ?

I think a firewall is a good idea for blocking a virus, but is your virus blocker up-to-date. I can't see your question now, but I wonder if you have been hit by spyware.
Remember you have to keep upgrading your anti-virus program. They get out-of-date quickly now-a-days.

Installing firewall like ZoneAlaram will certainly help.

Do you run spyware programs? If not I think you should try doing that.
Look at the spyware link in Gen. Computing...

Danish,
Go to Nortons Security Check website and run the security check and virus scan, it's free. If you can't get rid of your virus, then there is always "Re-installation!". If you have a couple of hours to kill and choose to do this, then make sure you get all the windows updates installed as well. By the way, what OS are you using?
Here is the link to Norton's Security check.

i love zone alarm. any program that tries to access the internet has to get my approval. and it blocks attacks from the outside as well. and it's free
