I have a Dell 600m running win xp and a hp laserjet 1000 USB printer.

If I have had my laptop in hibernate and I start it up and plug in my printer to print something, quite often nothing happens. No error complaints or anything, including no printing. SO i have to reboot the laptop which can be annoying if I have been doing some work and have my applications open.

Does anyone know a way I can get the laptop or printer to recognize each other after coming out of hibernate mode without rebooting the computer?

Consider Paul's rocket mass heater.
