I'm asking this in the HTML forum because it appears to be a web page related problem, although it is not specific to HTML or Javascript. On a web page I have some thumbnail images. On my PC in IE 6 or Firefox the images look fine. On my moms PC she says they are blurry in IE6 (she doesn't have firefox). So I emailed her the exact image I was using as the thumbnail and she says it is crystal clear. I had her save the image (right click, save image as) on the web page to her hard drive and when she viewed that one, it was blurry just like on the web. Technically, the 2 images should be identical byte for byte. Does anyone know if IE does anything funky with images that would cause this issue? I can't find anything on google except for the option of IE making images smaller to fit on the screen, which is not the case in this situation. Thanks.

If she is using AOL or some other dial up provider, they compress images which make them appear crappy. It is so the pages load faster when surfing the web. Eric

Really? She uses MSN Explorer Dial-up. That is interesting. Is there any reason they would have appeared clear one time then everytime after that they are blurry? Can images slip through there system once?

You might want to check the settings and see if they have anything on compression of images. Eric

Well, the difference was my mom downloaded MSN 9 with that crappy accelorator technology. Her setting was on 4. I had her put it to 0 and clear her cache and low and behold, the images looked fine. Turns out also that their proxies will convert GIFs to JPEGs and they do a really crappy job of it. All is well except now I have to put a disclaimer on the web site about people using that technology and that the images might not display correctly. I am moving this thread to General Computing.
